Dr. Joel Jahraus is well-known and regarded in the medical community for his two decades of experience treating individuals with eating disorders.He is a known authority on the medical implications of eating disorders and has been a board-certified physician for over 40 years.

Dr. Jahraus has a background in family medicine and graduated from Washington University Medical School in St. Louis, Missouri.Dr. Jahraus was named Distinguished Teacher of the Year at the University of Minnesota Medical School during his tenure there.He co-authored a chapter on eating disorders in the American Psychiatric Association’s Textbook of Psychosomatic Medicine, as well as The Treatment of Eating Disorders: A Clinical Handbook.Dr. Jahraus has appeared in a number of national publications, including two public television specials on eating disorders. He spoke at a Congressional briefing in the United States about the need for eating disorder treatment to be covered by health insurance.In 2011, he was awarded the coveted Ellis Island Medal of Honor for his contributions to the field, and U.S. News and World Report named him a Top Doctor of 2013.

The International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals (IAEDPTM) has certified Dr. Spann as an Eating Disorder Specialist and Supervisor.Dr. Spann earned her doctorate from Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, her master’s from the University of Miami, and her bachelor’s from the University of FloridaDr. Spann is a member of the Southeast Eating Disorder (SEED) Conference Committee and has given presentations across the country on topics such as adolescent development and body image issues, eating disorders in the Jewish community, the intersection of trauma and eating disorders, binge eating disorder, body image development, and women’s issues.

Amanda Mellowspring, MS, RD/N, CEDRD-S (Vice President of Nutrition Services):

Amanda has over 15 years of experience directing the treatment of eating disorders at various levels of care as a Certified Eating Disorder Registered Dietitian and Supervisor via the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals.Amanda is a member of the IAEDP Certification Committee and co-authored a paper in the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics establishing the Standards of Practice and Standards of Professional Performance for RDs treating with eating disorders.Amanda is the Vice President of Nutrition Services for Monte Nido & Affiliates, where she is in charge of the company’s nutrition programming and services.

Robin Hoover (National Director of Nursing Operations):

The National Director of Nursing Operations for Monte Nido & Affiliates is Robin Hoover, MSN, RN.Ms. Hoover joined Monte Nido & Affiliates as a Consulting Nurse Administrator with more than three decades of nursing experience.

She has worked in a variety of settings in the behavioral health profession, including emergency rooms, charter schools, residential treatment centers, and as an adjunct professor at a university.Ms. Hoover graduated from Chamberlain College of Nursing with a BSN and an MSN (Health Informatics Specialty).In addition, Ms. Hoover is a member of the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals.

Melissa Coffin, PhD, CEDS ( Senior Director Clinical Programming):

Dr. Melissa McLain Coffin is a qualified eating disorder specialist and a professional psychologist.She has been a Clinical Director of Residential Treatment at Oliver-Pyatt Centers in Miami since 2008, eventually rising to Senior Director of Clinical Programming and Development, overseeing adult residential, partial and intensive outpatient programming, as well as Clementine adolescent residential programs.Dr. Coffin’s responsibilities grew as he was promoted to Senior Director of Clinical Programming for Monte Nido and Affiliates.
